Jon Sleeper and Monica Richardson

Here is a quick post to mention that Jon Sleeper who often comments here and has his own blog about why he left AA, after being a staunch 12 step stalwart after over a decade of membership, will be joining Monica Richardson on her Blog Talk Radio show on Tuesday 14th July. You can find a link to her show here  It will go out at 10pm UK time which I think is 2pm LA time. You can listen to this and other shows on the player below.

It should be interesting as they have plenty of years of AA experience between them, but have both chosen to move on. I really like Jon’s webpage and have been to several of his talks on AA as part of skeptics in the pub. He is funny while making a serious point. He does not take part in any of the pitiful AA bashing that takes place on certain online communities but respects AA and it’s members. He would like to see it change and become more modern but accepts that will be difficult to achieve. Monica Richardson has been a long time campaigner to make AA safer both as an AA member and after leaving. She is currently promoting her film “The 13th Step” which has been shown in the USA, Cannes Film Festival and in the UK where myself and John were present . It won best documentary award at the Beverly Hills Festival.

I may try to call in myself, if there is time as Jon always has a lot to say in his presentations! I will also add the show here or you will be able to download it from iTunes.

  1. Thanks for the plug! Really looking forward to this. Hopefully I won’t embarrass myself or say anything libellous. Feels a bit like when I did my first “chair” at an AA meeting. Ha ha. JSx

  2. I’m sure it will go well, we do need some sane people talking about the shortcomings of AA at the moment!

  3. Thanks for this, Mike. I will be listening.

And GOOD LUCK, Jon – but I doubt you will need it 🙂

  4. It’s very simple to find out any matter on net as compared to textbooks, as
I found this piece of writing at this website.
